Trail Staff

Northern Tier High Adventure Base of Ely, MN is looking to hire Seasonal Winter Camping Guides. Do you have a love for youth character development? A Day in the Life of a Winter Camping Guide:

As a Winter Camping Guide, you are the foundation of our program. You work directly with the scouts to ensure that they have the best and safest experience possible. Your days working with scouts, aged 11 – 18, are filled with adventure. You winter camp, sled, ice fish, teach outdoor skills, and act as a role model as you lead weekend winter adventures. When you are not leading trips your work days consist of a variety of base camp support projects including custodial chores and administrative tasks. This is one winter that you will never forget and a job that will be the wilderness adventure of a lifetime!

 

Northern Tier provides all Winter Trail Staff with at least 1.5 weeks of staff training including a Wilderness First Aid course and a 3 day training trip. Winter trips include cross country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, and winter camping.

 

Qualifications:

  • Age 18 or older
  • Available for the Winter from Mid- December through Mid-March with some positions available from Mid-December through early January.
  • Excitement for Winter Camping
  • Passion for outdoor adventure and mentoring youth

Food Service Staff

Tier. You work in a professional kitchen setting preparing nutritious and delicious food for thousands of campers throughout the summer. Your days are filled with valuable experiences and great community. All while building a foundation for a rewarding career. A Day in the Life of a Maintenance Specialist:

As a Winter Maintenance Staff member, you will be integral in keeping our camp working. You work with other staff members to manage projects and carry out a wide variety of facility and vehicle repairs. Every day in this role will be filled with excitement and creativity. Qualifications:

  • Age 18 or older
  • Available from December through March
  • Passion for problem solving and an eye for detail

As a Retail Sales Clerk, you get to interact with every visitor of our program. You work directly with the scouts to ensure that they have the best experience possible. Your days working with scouts, aged 14 – 18, are filled with adventure. You’ll have the opportunity to help organize displays for maximum exposure and customer experience all while developing valuable job experience. This is one summer that you will never forget and a job that can only be described as rewarding!

 

Qualifications:

  • Age 18 or older
  • Available for the summer from December through March
  • Passion for customer service
  • Accuracy and thoroughness in work
