While some units choose to plan trips independently or work with outside outfitters, Northern Tier offers something unique: deep experience, a commitment to Scouting policies, and a focus on safety and preparation. Three Ways to Paddle with Northern Tier

1. Traditional Northern Tier Canoe Programs

Our classic Northern Tier experience from start to finish. Crews are fully outfitted and supported, with a trained Northern Tier guide who delivers the program, teaches wilderness skills, and helps crews grow in confidence and teamwork.

Best for: Units looking for the traditional Northern Tier experience with full guidance and support.

2. Voyageur Brigade

For experienced crews seeking more independence, Voyageur Brigade offers the Northern Tier experience without a guide. Crews choose either Standard or Lightweight outfitting while meeting experience requirements that ensure safety and program quality.

Best for: Experienced units ready to take the lead, with Northern Tier outfitting and support behind the scenes.

To participate as a Voyageur Brigade you will apply using this application.  Once approved, you will book a traditional canoe experience, and we will adjust capacities for you to fill your own crew under your leadership.

3. Build Your Own Trek

Design an adventure that fits your crew’s goals. This flexible option allows units to select from an open menu of rental equipment and support services while planning their own route and itinerary.
