Alumni Rental Program

For years, Northern Tier had offered rentals to members of the Charles L. Sommers Alumni Association, Inc.  We have taken steps to make the process more streamline for alumni.

To reserve equipment from Northern Tier for your upcoming wilderness experience (summer and winter), please review the information on this page, complete the request form and a Northern Tier Staff member will reach out to you to complete the reservation.  Equipment is limited and will be rented on a first come first served basis.

All alumni utilizing Northern Tier’s rental program must:

  • Be current members of the Sommers Alumni Association.
  • Agree to follow all US Forest Service and/or Quetico Provincial Park rules and regulations while using the equipment.
  • Possess appropriate permit at the time of picking up equipment.
  • Group size must be a minimum of 4 people and 2 canoes to be compliant with the BSA Safety Afloat Policy.
  • Pets are not allowed on Northern Tier Bases.
  • Northern Tier is not responsible for obtaining necessary permits for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness or Quetico Provincial Park, however Northern Tier will verify permits prior to checking out any canoes.
