Summer Program Updates

  • Bissett Crews will be required to book a minimum 8-night trip.

Winter Program Updates

  • Dog Sledding Programs have been split into two distinct Programs:
    • Basic Dog Sledding which includes the traditional Okpik Musher Camp and Dog Sled
Trek. Both programs stay on or near Northern Tier. These programs are great for beginning winter campers due to
their proximity to the Base and fewer miles travelled.
    • Advanced Dog Sledding these crews will travel much further from the base, some
crews departing from a remote location. These crews will encounter harsher conditions. This program is
recommended for crews with previous winter camping experience.
  • The Okpik-Kapvik program is now part of the lottery program – for Okpik programs you can now choose your
location, Ely, MN – Okpik or Twin Lakes, MI – Okpik-Kapvik. Both programs offer the same great Northern Tier Okpik
Program, with subtle program differences. More details can be found at ntier.org

General Updates

Protection and Adult Leadership requirements in mind. You can always find the most up to date information in
      the Guide to Safe Scouting:

meetings. A registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over must be present for any activity
involving female youth. Notwithstanding the minimum leader requirements, age- and program-appropriate
supervision must always be provided. (FAQ’s)
      • All adults accompanying a Scouting unit at Northern Tier must be a registered leader with the Boy Scouts
        of America.
