The Charles L. Sommers Canoe Base offers a unique and rustic conference facility located on Moose Lake 20 miles east of Ely, Minnesota. Our property is adjacent to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Quetico Provincial Park, which encompass over three million acres of pristine lakes and streams. Each summer, over 3,000 youth embark on a high adventure trip from our landing on Moose Lake. Each winter, we provide the best in wilderness adventure and cold weather camping by snowshoe, ski and dogsled. During the fall, spring, and weekdays in the winter, our facility is available for conferences. Dining Hall area has white board and projection screen, folding tables, padded chairs, and three separate meeting areas with a total seating capacity of 100 people. It is heated for winter use. Historic Ludlow Lodge has a rustic stone fireplace and seating for 60 (30 with tables), including folding tables, padded chairs, projection screen and white board. The lodge is heated for winter use. Overhead projector, LCD projector, slide projector, flip chart easel and chalk board available upon request. |
