Don Rogert Canoe Base
Don Rogert Canoe Base
Atikokan, Ontario
Crews leaving from this base are shuttled to a wide variety of areas. Explore the pristine, well-preserved wilderness of the Quetico Provincial Parks; lounge on the sandy beaches and swim in the turquoise waters of Canadian Crownlands, an area often referred to as “the Carribean of the North”; and visit the White Otter Castle, a five-story wilderness mansion built by one man in 1914, and stumble across long-abandoned gold mines in the Turtle River – White Otter Provincial Park.
Perfectly situated on Perch Lake, west of Atikokan, Ontario, this base offers modern amenities as well as a classic wood-burning sauna. In addition to the unique kayak and fishing programs, crews can arrange for a float plane fly-in to begin their trip.
Love to fish? Love to canoe? You’ll enjoy both on this fishing-focused expedition option. Each trip begins with an introduction to fishing in the great Canadian waters of Ontario along with a master angler course. The waters of northwestern Ontario offer great fishing for walleye, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and northern pike. Fly-in options are available.

Travel the paths of the historic voyageurs and experience the waters of canoe country by modern-day kayaks! This six-day trek takes you and your crew through the crown lands and Turtle River–White Otter Provincial Park, where fish and wildlife are abundant.
